This July

Today you turned twenty three months old. Just a month away from being TWO! This led me to think about how we are going to celebrate that. Last year, we had a big bash(BIG in my context as birthday celebrations are foreign territory to me). So what are we going to do this year?

Whatever we decide to do this year, I hope when you grow up and you'd remember all the hoopla and fuss we make over you and how I always make a great deal from your birthdays. Yes, it is a day where narcissism and an "all about me" attitude is not only allowed but encouraged.
So this year, a different plan. For my little Marshy who is turning into this wonderful little girl who I so so love.

Till now, I still get this achy feeling in my heart. That feeling that says I love this little girl more than I could ever imagined. That incredible love soaked heart of mine still leaps with an indescribable rhythm when she's in my arms.

Happy Twenty Three months !

Twenty Two months this Month

I am hating myself today. And I feel like the lousiest mummy ever exist, Marshy is turning 22 months old today yet this mummy is at work. And is missing her like crazy. The hours felt like eternal. And I am hating it.

I am sitting through a management meeting but thinging oif your cheekiest smile when you are doing your barney dance. You should be having your bath now while this tall Dutch man claded in a grey business suit was doing his presentation. I think about your soap slicked body and wet hair framing your face sitting in the baby tub, contented to soak in with your bath toys. Then every minute or so you would look up at me and say: mama! with a smile.

I raced home with a longing heart and felt like I missed so much of you. But I know you save the sweetest smile and loudest chuckles for me. But I miss you so much I want to cry. I know, this mama, so needy.

Marshy is always a girlie girl. Look at how you feed your bear of the day.

I love you, Marshy. The way you love your bear bear.

Babies really do grow up! I need to capture everything in pictures and writing and most importantly capture these moments in my heart so that the beauty of being your mommy at every stage of your development can stay with me forever.
Today, twenty two months old.
To many many more happy days, my sweetie pie!
Mama loves you to the moon and back.

Twenty-One and Counting

It's strange where time goes. Tell me it's just not me. Oh time, please slow down. Marshy is celebrating TWENTY ONE months old. I thank my lucky star s that it's not 21 years old. I havn't have enough of you, my baby.

I love seeing you sing, dance and read and do so many fun and exciting things. You are speaking so well these days. Mostly intelligible and holding conversations with me. In your own time, baby.

You amazed us with your learning capability. You count your numbers, sing the lyrics of all the songs you love, you demonstrated how well you know your phonics by singing the ABC song from A-Z and you even recognised all the shapes from your toy box.- Circle/ square/ Triangle/ Oval/ diamond.......I am proud that you are learning well but nothing beats the way you curl your fat little fingers around mine. The way you break into the most cheeky of smiles. The way you say- I love you , mama in the most melodious voice and kissed and kissed and kissed me. On my left cheek, on my right cheek and on my lips.

You made me faint with love 21 months ago. You still do.

Stay happy, keep dancing, baby. Happy twenty one months old!

The Big 20

Twenty months twinkled by but something remains the same. You are woven into my heart. Milestones are piling up like bricks in the bucket. And I sure hope this is the last month when you grow out of your fit throwing.

We have had a bunch going on lately that I must pause to remember. Remember to take more pictures of you and etch these pictures and thoughts into this piece of cyber memory.

Are you twenty months old already, my dear?

I am still so besotted, smitten and head over heels in love with you. Just because I'm so blessed.

Happy Twenty, Marshy. I'm so blessed you are mine.

Nineteen months of Deep Deep Love

My big big girl whom I so so love!

Grooving away!

See how you grabbed and hugged the cuddlies at the toy store.

Our first Float Ride!

Can we have another round, mama?

Happy Nineteen months old, Marshy!

You turn nineteen months old today. We met up with Auntie Jocelyn and Julius for a playdate. After that, to do something special today, I brought you for your first float ride. You were extremely excited sitting and steering the Giraffe float ride. We had a great grand day together.

I want to tell you so many things. And before you are able to read mommy's scribbled notes, I'll write in this space so they'll never turn yellow.

At 19 months,

- You have become very sticky to me. "Mama.. Mama..." can be heard at all times whenever I walk out of eyeshot. Correspondingly, you get upset when I carry another child (even your cousins) and will burst into tears and try to shove your way back into my arms.

-You have blossomed into a very affectionate toddler. You are very generous with your kisses and hugs. You come up to us every time when you are asked to and bestow us with kisses and hugs. But I am the only one you would come and kiss on the lips voluntary. Most nights when I tuck you in. That makes me a very proud mummy. You even give flying kisses to neighbours, shop assistants, the ladies at the foodstall, old uncles and aunties chatting at the void deck and even the driver in the car next to us.

-You cant get enough of dancing and grooving. And you are singing! You know your Do Re Mi Fa So.........You dance to all kinds of music. You practise what you learn in your kindermusik class at home. Drumming, tapping, grooving... An you would pull my hand and say: Mama, Dance!

-You are in love with all your cuddlies. Mama is helping you to grow your collection. To a certain extent, I am trying to give you what I lacked in my childhood. Loads and loads of cuddlies! I love them all! You are seldom seen without a cuddly You would run and grab at least two when you hear we are going " kaikai".
-You love to play ball ball. Kitty ball, barney ball, soccer ball. You hold my hand and say: Mama, sit. Mama, roll. Mama, bounce. Mama, kick. Mama, throw. And we spend many hours rolling, bouncing, kicking and throwing.
-You are definitely a chatterbox. You have a vocabulary of about 250 words You can generally pronounce any word after us accurately. ANd you have progress into stringing 2, 3, 4 single words into sentences. For example, Mama, see dogdog. Mama, watch Baby Bright. Mama, sleep. Baby, sleep. Mama, sit, read books. And you can express yourself loud and clear: Don't want. Don't Like.

And when I refused you any adult food, you are a great sport and walk away mumbling to yourself: Hot, Hot. Spicy, Spicy.

One day, we were all sitting in Auntie G's car waiting for her to pay for the carpark from her purse.
Marshy: Auntie, more money.
Auntie G: Yes? Baby? You want money?
Marshy: Yes.
Auntie G: Why do you need money, baby?
Marshy: Buy toys.
Auntie G: Huh? What toys?
Marshy: Buy Ball ball.
The pure joy that comes with these milestones is undeniable, unthinkable even. Happy Nineteen, my dear. If there's a divine one somewhere up there, thank you . Thank you for blessing me with this perfect little marshy.

Nineteen months of deep, deep Love.

This Lunar New Year, two thousand and ten

It's Spring. I love this feeling. NEW year, the goodies, the gatherings and how it means having the second chance to revisit the new year resolutions made but not kept barely a month ago. Chinese New Year now takes on a totally new face and meaning, with your presence in our lives.
After 36 years of celebrating the occasion in the same way, I am getting rather bored. I mean it's nice but I have lost the enthusiasm for it. But you made all the difference. This is your Second Lunar New Year. This time as a toddler who finds magic in everything. That gait around you when we were preparing to go visiting. The glow on your face when you played with her cousins. The excitement is all coming back. You made me love the celebration again.

And I love love love love love love you.

Having fun with cousins.

This is Marsh and her'niece'

Role playing.

Marsh and her Great Grandmother.

More cousins!

CNY's Eve- two thousand AND ten

Today seems kindda of candy-coated. Beyond lovely. It's Marshy's second time celebrating the Eve of the Lunar New Year. And we happened to be celebrating the occasion in our JG's class today.

Class was fun filled as usual. With the important little people in our lives dressed for the occasion. It was a lovely sight. Fun as it is but ironical when we tried too hard to preserve these chinese traditions in our childrens' lifes. Especially done in CLASSES.

Anyway, I think you had fun. Dancing and spinning in your new bling bling red dress and soaking in the lively atmosphere recreated painstakingly by the teachers.

Thank you . Thank you . For the wonderful times.

Then we rushed home for the traditional family galore for our reunion dinner with my family. The extra face at the table with us this second year round made reunion diner even more joyous!

We certainly had a delightful night of bantering and non stop gluttoning with the folks.

Dancing happily away!

Getting center staged.

Chinese New Year is fun!

My first Ang Pow this year.

Two chummy friends celebrating the occasion together.

Resting in a corner after the dances.

On our way to popo's house for Reunion dinner.

Is my menu for reunion dinner organic, dad?

Waiting for the count down!

Happy Eighteen

February 2009

February 2010

Dear baby,
It's funny how tomorrows keep coming. They never stop and always seem to pick up speed, just when I am enjoying you and your babyhood so much.
Everytime I look through your photos, my throat goes tight. You are growing so fast it makes my heart ache. I dread to think of the day when you want to sleep in your own bed in your own room, the day you tell Mummy you are too old for kisses.
So now everyday is a precious memory. Your every sound is so delicious. Your every movement a milestone. That's a mommy's joy. Immense, intense joy.

You are growing well. You love your solids. You love your milk. It makes me feel like a wonderchef. Looking at you juicy thighs, I know you are eating wonderfully well.

You are growing so fast. You are talking, you are dancing you are singing. And you are still sleeping in with us.

I had wanted to fill this page with your milestones, but really, all I care for now is for you to be happy. You make my heart merry.

Mummy loves you. To the moon and back.

Happy 18 months. We know we havent been happier.

Happy 2010!

Happy 2010!
A year going by. Another year coming on. Year 2009 hasnt brought on the best of news for me and I cant help but feel a twinge of low somehow too. Last year had seen me deal with some setbacks and losing my beloved granny.

In the new year, let's be kind to all, let's forgive more, let's start to appreciate and be thankful to what we have got. And for those we have lost, Let's always keep them in our thoughts. Let's try to be a step closer to leading the life we want. isnt that what life is really about?

Enjoy your 2010.
Happy 2010. Like it or not. Here we go!

Sweet Seventeen on the First day of the Year!

Sweet Seventeen Months Old!

Huh? I am 17th months already?

You Sure? Those pictures were ME?

17 months Ago.................................................

Happy 17 months to the best marshmellow in my life. You turn 17 months old today. That is 1 year and 5 months. Wow. That's eternity! And what a crazily good time we have had.

The start of every new year is a time to look forward and make resolutions and plans for the 12 months ahead. But I would like to rewind the clock exactly to 17 months ago.On the day you were born. Who could have forseen that you would impact my world in such a big way? Today has been a bit of milestone, not just in terms of the amazing journey that is your life but also in terms of my future. I wont go into much details but suffice to say, it concerns the very real, the commonplace yet heartbreaking issue of mums and work.
17 months ago we had you. I watched you in joy and my heart just melted into nothingnss. You are beautiful, this baby. 17 months later, you have bloomed into a toddler who find magic in every little thing. You are a cheery one. My days are fill with laughter. You love life. You love me. You make me love my life.
Thank you, my baby. For all the laughter and joy.
