Celebrating at Marina Bay Sand

At just two weeks shy of turning two years old, you have clearly left your babyhood in the dust.

Gone is the marshy mellow that would lay in my chest and sleep for hours. No longer can I keep you in the stroller or highchair for more than 15 minutes. nor can I make you eat all the wholesome and nutrious meals that I planned. You have definately come into your own. Facing out. Ready to take on the world.

But I am not ready to eat your birthday cake this fall and not remember how awesome these two years were. I want to file away these magical moments. I want to remember the sweet smell of milk on her breath and the lavender scent of your lotion I used after your bath.

Today marks the kick off of the string of celebrations we are going to have for your big day.
Your grandma popo kick start by checking us in to the Marina Bay Sands for a night together with your cousins!

A grandmother's love

My happy Marshy! This is the Pooh Bear cake you had requested for.

Since we are not celebrating your birthday in Singapore this year, we brought forward this celebration so as to make up for any cousin and Marshy loss time and to make sure you can blow out the candles together with your beloved cousins!

Amazing cousins.

Giving cousin Vanness a kiss!

Marshy really enjoyed her cake and herself that day. Thank you, popo and Yeema and cousin Val and Vanness for the wonderful celebration!

Saying Hi to the animals!

The days have disappeared into nights in a orangey haze. We have been out and about and even said hi to the animals at the zoo.

We went to the zoo in the hottest of days but coolest of winds. Marshy had a silly smile on her face the whole day. The big broad beaming kind.

Because Daddy is bringing her to the Zoo.

This is Marshy's third visit to the zoo but this time as a little toddler who finds magic in every little thing. You are a cheery and chirpy one. You hardly nary a whine when you were melting like a butter under the hot sun.

You are a brave little one. You took the bananas and apples and fed them to the elephants without hesitation. But you didnt like the slimy feel when the elephant tried to lick you!

My adventurous and daring Marshy in action!

The past-the-naptime-but-I-still-want-to-play-look on Marshy.

This is one of Marshy's favourite segment from the Animal Friends Show. Skipping with the dog. The next day, you took out a leash and wanted to skip with your toy puppy!

Besides the Animal Friend Show, we managed to catch 2 other shows out of the 4 shows that day.

Hello Sunshine!

July is looking good. There are swim dates, little gym dates, zoo date and a trip to look forward to. For these reasons, July is one to love.

I have always wish I could give you more pool time even though it is a tiring task to get you in a swim suit. I think it is a little like trying to put two weeks of clothes into a overnight bag. But anyway, this month we get to swim again and again! So I lathered you up in sunscreen, blow up the baby raft and wiggled you into the swim suit and headed to the pool.

As soon as you saw the waters, you were kicking your legs and flailing your arms. You went down to the pool without any hesitation, leaned back and soaked it in.

Still having your favourite shades.

You grined and giggled. Kicked your feet and splashed your arms. Just enjoying yourself thoroughly in the waters.

All these times, I have never swim with you before. I have always been the photographer. Watching you playing happily and getting excited outside the pool and trying to capture all these favourite moments. But you have started to wave at me and asked me to join you. "Mama, come! Mama, swim! Mama, Fun!"

I will, I will, darling. Even if it means to suck in my post baby belly as I do it.

Old Macdonalds had a farm

Daddy brought us here some months ago but you were not ready to enjoy the place. And this time we revisited this place and you love it. Daddy has always wants to instill values of respect and love towards animals in you. Now as a toddler and equip with your increasing interest and explosive knowledge of animals, this is the best time to bring you here.

Last time, we came here as visitors and this time, you were busy feeding fish and fluttering around showing me the rabbits, ducks, turtles just like you have known them forever.

"Mama, duck duck quacks! Mama, rabbit hop hop hop! Mama, fish eat bread... Mama tortise where? Where tortise? Mama rabbit sleeps! Mama, look! Birds Fly!" My Marshy couldnt stop talking and jumping up and down excitedly.

And then I saw it. The ducks are not just ducks, fishes not just fishes, rabbits are not just rabbits. To you, all the animals you know in Old Macdonald's Farm had come alive!

And I couldnt stop smiling . I am just glad taht I am not too busy, too hurried or too distracted to see all this in your eyes.

And I couldnt stop smiling at the wonder of our ordinary life.

This is the big and spacious feeding station.

Throwing bread crumbs to the hundreds of fishes swimming in the pond.

"Fish, Come! Come! Here!" Marshy commanding the fishes around her.

Feeding the fishes seriously!

Posing while feeding!

There were so many fishes in the pond and all of them started swimming towards us all at once! It was an amazing sight!

First Encounter with real ducks!

"Look! Mama, rabbits!!! Hop ! Hop! Hop!"

Blissed -out

Work starts proper for me next week. My plate is full with orientations, training and business trip in the pipeline. SO to make up any potential loss of Marshy and mummy time in the coming days, we were out most of the time. Breathing in the mall, cafes in the airport and soaking in the light buzz of the weekday crowd.

You have always been a dream to hang out with. Even more so these days. Today is one of those impromptu outings when we decided to drop into Ikea for a lazy afternoon.

We had a glorious day. I skipped the stroller and we walked. Sometimes, hand in hand. Most times, you ran loose. But stopping to wait for me and couldnt stop smiling. We had so much fun and finally decided to lounge out at the cafe. But you were so tired out and fell asleep while munching on your spaghetti!

In the end, we left with me carrying you sound asleep in my arms and giving up all the items we picked up together ealier. My hands are full with you and the wonderful memories we created together.

Such a happy happy afternoon.

Marshy, you'd remember all the good times we had, right?

Playing peek-a boo! I was at the verge of paying for this chair when you had so much fun with it but it was OOS.

For the record, you have NEVER sleep in a cot before. So I was just playing out my dream by letting you try out the cot. (Hopeful that you might change your mind)

Instead you had fun playing peek a boo again!

Marshy pretending to kiss and tuck in her Tigger on one of the beds.

Admiring the artworks on the wall.

Look at Marshy's sleepy eyes when our food came.

Run, baby, run!

I know , I know, this entry is seriously overdue. It was sitting in the draft folder for the longest time but anyway, the pictures looked too good to miss. We had another wonderful playdate with Issac and Julius again. The airport has since became our favourite hang out place. The place is seldom crowded during weekdays and the kids have plenty space to run.

And after we said goodbyes to Keri's dates, as usual, I brought you to the same spot to run loose. And as usual, you had a rolling good time bouncing around in your white sneakers. And this time with little red elmo. You ran amok in the vast space. It's the kind of run only children do - arms swinging like wild waves, glee-full faced. I watched you sprint off in a distance and stopped and laughed your head off. No qualms and fear about falling.

That childlike spirit is so aspiring. I hope one day, I'll run like you. Two arms swinging, smiling, squealing and beatific. And not minding the all funny looks I'll be getting from the tourists and passerbys.

Check out Julius's mischievous look on his face! He is such an adorable baby!

Keri insisted on accompanying Issac by sitting next to him in their strollers.

Elmo, are you ready for a run?

Here we go!

I dont care about poise and posture, Mama. I just want to run!

This is the way to RUN!

Want to join me? Pls call my mama's handphone to make appointment.

A Day of Friends and Fun!

Marshy, I was looking through your photos and realised that I had forgotten to blog on our recent zoo trip. How could I? Anyway, mummy received an email one of these days- Kindermusik group Reunites? How cool can that be? You are going to see your friends again. I showed you the email and said: We are going to the Zoo Zoo Zoo!

So the Kindermusik Group (6 toddlers, 6 mummies, 1 daddy and 1 granny) gathered at the Zoo and said hi to the animals. (We were missing Tory here!) We went to the Zoo in the hottest of days but the coolest of winds. The kiddos bathed in the bubbly bubbles and we grew sun bleached.

It was a day of friends and fun. Awesome playdate and glorious catch up with old friends. Marshy, pls remind me to take group pictures next time, ok?

See? Same bottles, same styles!

Bossy Marshy trying to get Trudy to stop drinking.

The girls are having fun together!

Cheering her friends from the side.
I think I'd take a dip myself.

Arrgrrr.. The waters is too cold for me. I'd better walk back.

Splish Splash! That's all I know about swimming.
